During China's Tang Dynasty (618-907), courtesan Yang Guifei was legendary as one of the Great Beauties of the World. In Nagato, there is a local legend that tells of Yang Guifei escaping her eventual death in a coup, and coming across the sea to Nagato instead. Gyoku Senkaku incorporates multiple parts of this legend into its design. From the bath Yang Guifei was said to have used, to the Tang-style furnishings, even our cuisine includes dishes said to have been loved by the courtesan. The historical flavor at Gyoku Senkaku is unlike the experience at any other ryokan. A stay here is for the guest who wishes to immerse themselves in historic romance and relaxation.
