Constructed over a period of ten years beginning in 1987, a tunnel of 123 torii gates wind down the bluff face towards the Sea of Japan.
An offeratory box is positioned at the top of the tallest torii gate, and it is said that the wishes of those who can successfully toss their coin up into the box will be granted.
