Take the view of Senzaki Harbor's famous cherry blossoms from this elevated park.

It is said that Yasaka Shrine (Formerly known as Gion Shrine) in Nagato's Senzaki Gion-machi district has its roots in Ojiyama. The shrine's records tell of the return of Kibi no Asomi Makimi, a 6th century envoy to what was then Tang China, where he spent 17 years. It is said that upon Kibi's return, a festival was held in Ojiyama in celebration of the ancient Japanese god of the sea, Susano-o, and Gion Shrine was erected. It is also said that at the time, Omijima was not an island, but connected to the main island of Japan.
In a nod to this, poet and nursery rhyme author Kaneko Misuzu wrote the following of this island-bound part of Senzaki in her "Eight Views of Senzaki": "My town floats there like the sea dragon god."
